Improvise

Most of you already know
I’m a good handyman/craftsman
With a good imagination
Mentioned the other day that I bought an umbrella and base.
Not much of a base, cement with a plastic cover, 13 inches square. A light wind will tip it over, so I pondered on it and what I have on hand and came up with a plan. Cut out a 17 inch square of plywood, rounded the corners, drilled a hole in the center of it, bingo, a little table for drinks and such. Had a piece of PVC of 1 ½” pipe to slip over the staff to hold the shelf at the right height.

Will add a rope at each corner going to the ground so I can use tent stakes to anchor it good, paint it, blah blah blah. The plastic chair had a broken armrest, I fixed that fucker also. I’m a handy bastard, yes?

  3. I have solved the problem of anchoring things in the yard without digging through the rocky soil of Maine: I take a chimney block place the item to be anchored in the center hole and fill it with quick drying cement. I have a bird feeder in my back yard that has been mounted this way for five years. I think it would hold your umbrella

  4. I want it to be pretty portable and not too heavy as I will be taking it camping and fishing.
