Setting up a table right there on the shoulder is a good way to die. So before Texas put roadside picnic areas with bathrooms we didn't. The towns didn't have bypasses then so there were always good mom & pop restaurants to eat at. Haha for those emergencies between towns the boys had a coke bottle and the girls got to go under a bridge.
...and the trees were your "bathrooms"...? ....
