New....

 All of the units here are what I call fourplexes and even though some tenants think they are crap and not taken good care of I disagree with them, I think they get pretty damn good care. Hell, they were built in the forty’s and are still in good over all shape, I like my unit and over all this is a good neighborhood. The heating units could be updated (a few have been) but at least we still stay warm in the winter.

Anyway, some of them are getting new roofs, the old roofs didn’t look that bad to me but what the hell do I know. I’ve never done much three tab roofing, don’t think much of it but a good three or four man crew can rip one off and install a new one in pretty short order, I’m pretty damn impressed and I’m not easy to impress. I noticed that the crew on the roof is younger men, the older men are just driving trucks around to deliver tools and equipment and bundles of roofing but I suppose they paid their dues when younger. Boy, ya gotta be tough to work on a roof all day in Texas in August.  Anyway, have a fucking blessed day.

 Sure, I damn sure remember those old bastard wringer washing machines. It’s my oldest memory, I think I was four so it was 1947 and the women had an old wringer machine out in the yard. We lived a bit up a gulch about a mile out of Kellogg, Idaho. For some reason the women, mom and grandma, left the machine unattended while it was still running, guess I was going to be helpful and wring some clothes and that bastard grabbed my hand and sucked it in bout half way up my fore arm and then just sat there spinning until one of them ran back and released my stupid ass. Still have the scar but it isn’t as big as it used to be.

The 40’s was a great time to be a kid, up the gulch a bit further was an old abandoned mining building that we played in a lot, getting hurt and shit like that,  the shaft must have been blocked off or we could have really gotten in a lot of trouble, and none of us drowned in the creek either. And we had an outhouse, John and I would put long sticks down in it for some shit and chase our sisters around.

Back then nature weaned out the weak and unlucky ones.

 Yesterday morning I stepped out on the back porch to feed the freeloading assholes and noticed a possum that appeared to be in distress, went to get my camera and it had moved about a foot and appeared to be taking a nap on a piece of watermelon rind that the neighbor had put out. After taking the picture it got up and moved around some and then flopped over again and stayed there so when they opened animal control was called, by the time he got there it was dead for sure and he removed it. Didn’t appear to be all that old so no clue what was wrong with it.

I was right...

 AH HA!!!...... I’m not a cell phone repairman but I have multi meters and some experience in things electrical. My phone wouldn’t even work with a power cord attached to it, that’s cuz the battery was shorted out inside, they have four terminals on them, as near as I could tell two are outputs and two are inputs, for input from the charger or power cord and if the battery takes a shit internally it won’t complete the circuit for the phone to work even with a power cord. Anyway, I ordered a new battery, it was only eleven bucks from Walmart, and the phone is just fine so I didn’t have to put out two hundred bucks for a new phone.

 Look at what I picked up….. An old White peddle sewing machine. The head appears to be in good mechanical condition, may just have to clean it up and oil it. The case is going to need some restoring but I only paid 20 bucks for it and they are so cool.

29 bucks for a simple upper radiator hose for the silver slut, the world is going fucking insane!!!! Screw that, I’ll pack a roll of grizzly tape with me.

The Black Bitch...

 A few days ago we moved the black bitch and the spare parts truck so Carrol could mow that area. Been about nine months since the black bitch was started so yesterday morning I put an old battery in her and jump started her. Started up pretty quick so we jumped in her and drove her around the area for a bit. It’s to bad she has a bad crankshaft cuz everything on her works, even the cruise control and A/C. It was pretty cool driving a stick shift around again for a bit but a rebuilt motor costs 3000 bucks and I’m not inclined to spend that much on a car I only paid 240 for. Maybe I should rethink that?

 I got the car back together a few days ago and so far the transmission is working as it should, even though I didn’t really find anything wrong. While I had it apart I did install a new ignition switch and a throttle position sensor, just because of the age of the car. But now it is reporting that the ambient temperature sensor is out of whack. I swear, this car insists on having something wrong with it.

Some time today, I think, I’m going to fire up the new computer, hopefully I’ll be able to get back online okay and not just disappear in a puff of digital fluff.

Cars keep getting more complex

 My posts about repairs are not intended to teach anyone one a damn thing about fixing shit, go to Utube for that. I do such posts cuz it’s something to post other than begging the ladies to show us their tiddies.

But if you pay attention you may learn a little at times. I decided that being as I had the covers off of the steering column to check for bad wires that I would replace the ignition switch just cuz it was 16 years old. Noticed that one of the wire connectors was installed in the plug backwards when the wire loom was made, something like that could cause a weak connection so I corrected it.

Modern plugs are much different than when I worked in shops so ya wanna be careful when working with them. The one that plugs into the switch has an insert in it you have to work out so you can get to the release holding the connector. The connector is installed properly now but I don’t expect it to fix the problem I’ve been having.

Opps, a cop....

 I was easing south on Main Blvd yesterday morning when a north bound cop turned around behind me, and me with no fucking donuts. When I bought the car almost two years ago the truck sat a lot so I didn’t bother to renew the tabs on it but been using it while I’m working on that piece of shit car. Nice cop, my insurance was current so he just gave me a warning ticket.

So I went to have the truck inspected and tabbed and while looking for the old registration I discovered a hundred dollar bill I had tucked away in the sun visor and forgotten about so that covered the cost of the inspection and new tab. Had enough left over for some donuts but the cop was long gone by then.

I couldn’t be a cop, would be slapping the shit out of to many jerks and assholes but everyone gotta be somewhere doing something and cops are needed.

Hope I find the problem..

 Yesterday morning I removed enough stuff to get to most of the wire loom around the engine and transmission, the advent of computerizing cars sure added lots of wiring to them, damn geeks. Maybe this morning I’ll find the problem.

Lonnie and I went to the bar for two beers, He said he didn’t play pool and then the asshole proceeded to whip my ass in a game.

 A visual inspection didn’t reveal any wiring problems under the hood of the Silver Slut but I’m convinced there are bad wires somewhere so I’m going to remove the covering on the wire loom so I can check it all out real good.

 My credit card number got hacked somehow, no clue how it happened but it was after I ordered a part, but not online, over the phone. I don’t understand all the geek shit, if I did I wouldn’t still be trying to figure out what is wrong with my car. I turned the problem over to the bank, they know how to figure all that shit out.

New scan tool...

 Don’t know much about my new OBD2 scan tool, it does more than just basic tests, may never know much about it and I need to have a printer to print out the 98 page instruction manual, I don’t have a printer. But I did discover that it can do live scans on some components, that’s cool, if I could understand what the graft is telling me. Got a code that says the throttle position sensor is whacked so I watched it on the live data screen for a while, how cool is that? And it came with a cable to attach it to a laptop, that may be even cooler. If I practice with it a lot I may get better at understanding the systems in these modern pieces of shit.

Solution

 With the Silver Slut being a bitch I got tired of getting down on my knees to plug the OBD tool into the test port so my solution was to cut a hole into a dash panel and relocate the cocksucker, now I can do it while sitting in my seat. Don’t know why the asshole engineers have to install the bastards under the dash where they are a pain in the ass to get to.

Damn car

Will a PT Cruiser with 200K on it still do 100 MPH? Yup, but I didn’t document it, just take my word for it. But it still has an issue so back to trying to figure what is wrong with it, or just drive it until the damn thing quits and get me a Toyota.
