The long term trend for border crossings is down. If you take a look at the stats for ten years ago and look at what's happening now, the numbers been steadily dropping. Last month was an anomaly. It's also a distortion because it includes approximately 10,000 people who tried to cross legally and were refused entry. The real number for apprehensions is about 66,000. Given that 20 years ago the numbers were about double that number, even if February this year was higher than January, it's still not a dramatic OMG we're being invaded by hordes of brown people emergency.
ReplyDeleteI think there's a difference between legal citizenship, entering a country properly to visit it, and sneaking into another country unlawfully.
ReplyDeleteIt has nothing to do with the ancestry of those involved. It's a question of principles.
Why should the U.S. (or any other country) allow itself to become overpopulated by accommodating those who, clinically, shouldn't even be here and mostly don't even belong here?
