Working on a project some

Recluse log day 8: Do I still get out and about some? Yes, but I’m damn careful about where I go and what I do. I drive by some of the businesses just to see how busy they are and how careful others are being and some of them are pretty damn lax about their and others safety. I don’t get closer than 20 feet to anyone and don’t touch anything I don’t need to touch, etc. Not even accepting hand jobs, just rain checks.

I have been working on a porch project some, staining boards and such but no one else is there and I work alone and I haven’t been in any kind of a business for over a week.

Recluse log day 7: The whore next door had another batch of kittens, they are about four weeks old now.

Before the shelter in place thing I didn’t realize how fucking many people lived at Walmart.

Recluse log day 6: Never given it much thought before but I’m guessing that on average I use one roll of toilet paper a month and I have three rolls plus part of a roll so I figure I’m good until the supply line catches up again. But will be out of yogurt in four days so may have to chance a little shopping trip.

Recluse log day 4: Getting stinky, that should help keep the other monkeys away from me and my cookies. With all the café’s here closed except for curb service and take out you now don’t have to go in for your virus, they bring it to you, that’s very thoughtful of them. LOL

Big bug

Recluse log day 2: Went to some old broads place yesterday to feed the cats and spotted this big moth or butterfly type bug with a wing span of 5 to 6 inches. The big body reminds me of a fuzzy Cicada with big wings but I guess it is a Polyphemus moth. As adults they don’t eat and only live about one week.

Young folks may catch this bug and survive but if it keeps going around and they keep catching it I wouldn’t give them good odds so it is wise for them to be careful also.

Being an old country boy I can deal with it if I run out of toilet paper but I sure would like a gallon of milk. Not sure I wanna go to Walmart though, that is the most likely to place to pick up a bug. I guess us old farts can go at 6 AM and get what may be in stock, I might try that.

An other tool

I’ve wanted a planner for about 50 years but even a cheap one is kinda expensive and it isn’t something you use all the time but I’m getting old so fuck it, spent some of my rainy day money for one. I got a Harbor Freight one but they get good reviews and are plenty good enough for the casual woodworker that wants to turn some used lumber into good looking shit again.

Some old broad that doesn’t really like to admit she knows me, at least talk about her on the internut cuz it might get her a reputation got a couple of new porches recently and I’m going to improve the back porch, will be posting about that some as the work proceeds.

There is at least one plum tree in Texas, up north they are all over the place.

Wood stuff

Those that can brainstorm and improvise can always get by okay. I have some table legs to remove the finish from and I don’t like using finish removers unless I have to.  I don’t have a wood lathe but I do have an old 12 volt drill I wired to run off a 12 volt car or lawnmower battery so I made up a crude lathe that works good for removing the finish with rasps and sandpaper.

I bought a new compound sliding cut off saw and the first thing I did was remove the goddamn blade guard. You don’t really need all your fingers to be a wood worker. Today I’m going to get a 12 ½ inch planner if the son of a bitch is in yet.

Goddamn time changes, I almost jacked-off on Sunday instead of Saturday.

Aside from my main trade of being a mechanic for years I’ve also done a lot of woodworking through the years but had to leave a lot of tools when I moved to Texas. You can get a decent router for 80 to 100 bucks but on Friday I went to an estate sale and picked up a really nice Porter-Cable professional router with a first class plunge attachment for 60 bucks, they retail for 225 bucks.

Included was a good quality set of router bits, what a sweet deal.
